Hog Deer are small to medium-sized deer with a stocky build and a reddish-brown coat, which turns darker in winter. Males have short, slightly curved antlers, while females are hornless. They are ground-dwelling, shy, and fast runners, feeding on grasses, leaves, and shoots, and are commonly hunted on private reserves for meat and trophies.
